Of the seven essential things to do in our fleeting life on earth, hiking the John Muir Trail is number three. The John Muir Trail goes from Yosemite Valley to Mt. Whitney - 211 miles. After hiking the JMT summer-after-summer, I sat down and began writing an account of this magnificent challenge. The result is Walking Towards Thunder. Keep in mind that Walking is a fictional account of hiking the JMT - basically the names have been changed to protect the innocent.
